Frequently Asked Questions:
Does the office accept my Insurance?
We are an "In-Network" provider for most local PPO insurance plans and are part of the John Muir Health Network. We will bill your insurance at the time of visit. Patients are responsible for co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles as outlined by your individual insurance plan. Payment for these out of pocket costs are expected at the time of service. Feel free to contact us to ask about your specific insurance carrier.
What if I need to contact my doctor after hours or on weekends?
We participate in the Team Health after hours advice nurse service. If you call us after 5pm on weekdays or on weekends, you will be directed to that service. Direct access to the doctor is available as well through our after hours pediatric advice nurse service. If your child requires evaluation when the office is closed, you will be directed to the appropriate facility.
What are Dr. Nash and Borden's hospital affiliations?
Both doctors are on active/outpatient staff at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. That facility serves as the trauma center for pediatrics for the area and is staffed with an in-house pediatrician, 24/7.
What is the offices's philosophy regarding vaccination?
Both doctors firmly believe that one of the most important gifts we can give our children is the prevention of disease by vaccination. The office recommends complying with the standard childhood vaccination schedule as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, and the CDC. (See schedule on other page.) We utilize combination vaccines whenever possible to reduce the number of "pokes" to the child. Furthermore, California state law now mandates that all children be fully up to date on required vaccinations prior to attending both public and private schools as well as licensed childcare facilities. That being said, Dr. Nash and Dr. Borden feel strongly enough about protecting those patients who are too young to receive vaccines or who may be otherwise at risk or immune deficient to mandate a similar policy within the office. Although we recognize and respect the different attitudes and philosophies that parents have regarding health maintenance, parents who are not comfortable with following the recommended vaccination schedule for their child, should seek pediatric care elsewhere. We are happy to discuss the vaccine schedule and review the list of required and optional vaccines with families.
